The 2011 NADA Convention started on Friday February 4th and attendance this year is very strong. Aside from the large exhibit area, some of the best parts of the convention is the networking parties hosted by industry vendors. Friday night PCG Digital Marketing hosted a wine tasting dinner at Le Charm Restaurant in San Francisco for clients and friends. It was an intimate affair with great wines from Meander, Conspire, Poem Cellars, and of course Mollydooker.
Saturday Night has amazing parties that were first class and I was blessed to attend two of the best. The first party was hosted by Cobalt/ADP at the Asian Art Museum and this was a classy event. A beautiful setting, with native music and dancing performances in the building while guests strolled and enjoyed great wine, cocktails and food. John Holt was warm and welcoming with the party guests and A list attendees were there in abundance.
The Cobalt/ADP event made it easy to catch-up with old friends and meet new ones. The event was not over crowded, which well could have been if the guest list was not carefully restricted. Kudos to the event planning team because this was a regal event with great energy.
Following this classic success we went over to the SF MOMA for a rock-n-roll extravaganza hosted by Dealer.com. This event was the opposite in some respect and the same in others. The similarities were that they went all out for their guests and chose to invest in a great venue, wine, and food. Dealer.com will go down in history as having the best wine at a NADA event with their decision to host and pour Harlan Estate Cabernet, Colgin Cabernet, Opus One, and Napa Reserve.
I’ve been on the Harlan Estate list since their 1990 vintage and love their wines. Today, the Harlan Estate Cabernet is one of the best produced in the state and in good vintages sells at auction above $1,000 a bottle. Dealer.com did a great job with selecting the wines and everyone was talking about the Napa Reserve Cabernet. This wine is only available to consumers to pay $100,000 to make wine with the Harlan’s at their winery.
Topping the evening off at Dealer.com was a live acoustic concert from Third Eye Blind. But the music that stole the show was the DJ who spun records for 30 minutes before the band came on. The DJ was a Dealer.com employee and I must say that he had the BEST mix I have ever heard from a DJ. Congrats to this multi-talented Dealer.com employee.
